You Gotta Laugh!
One of my readers emailed me with a couple of her cute senior moments.
Even though we’re in a serious and uncertain time, a smile or a giggle can go a long way.
“The first one,” she said, “after Bible Study last month, I decided to take out your book Help Lord I’m having a Senior Moment. I remembered when I got home that I forgot to sign the book out. I took the card out of the back and saw that the last person to take the book out was me on May 29, 2016.”
“The second one, last summer, I went to my fridge to grab my iced tea. I opened the bottle and took a swig–of Soy sauce. I still laugh at both of them.”
Her timing was perfect. We all need a good laugh again and again–and again! 🤗
The laugh was on me this morning. I went to the grocery store at 6:00, hoping to beat the crowd. But the crowd beat me. The parking lot was full and the shoppers were buzzing around as workers scrambled to restock shelves. I did manage to spend $200 however, so I’m good for the next few weeks of sheltering at home.
Be safe and well, dear friends. This too shall pass.

Thank you for making me laugh!!! I remember when I brushed my teeth in the dark. Instead of grabbing the toothpaste, I was shocked when it was desitin for my grand daughter’s diaper rash. That was the last time anything like that happened to me.
One of my grandson’s was holding up a tube of Crest tooth paste. He said, “Nana if you eat this will it make you pregnant?”
Great share, Sandy. Your senior moment with the toothpaste reminded me of when I sprayed my hair with Pledge furniture polish instead of hair spray.
love all the funny emails I get from some of my “older” friends even tho they are not as old as me! I always say laughter is good medicine, it makes one feel so much better to laugh.
love this one: ” I am getting so old all my friends who are now in heaven are going to think I did not make it”! Boy, are they in for a surprise!
A new one this weekend: ” They did not know I was this old until they heard me stand up”.
Love you. Margaret
Those are two cute ones, Margaret. They helped me to laugh out loud.
Such fun, Karen. And, yes, this too shall pass. Thanks for continuing to bless us! Carolyn Curtis, whose latest book is Women and C.S. Lewis: What his life and literature reveal for today’s culture.
Thanks, Carolyn. It’s great to hear from you. I hope you are doing well. It’s a scary time but we know who holds us.
Yesterday I went to Walmart to get a few things. Just for the heck of it I went down to where the paper products are. I have about 4 rolls left, so I wasn’t in need, but to my surprise I saw a package of 12 and there was nobody near me. So I casually picked up a package and put it in my basket. I checked out at self service, paid and headed to my car. As I was putting everything in the car I took a quick glance at the TP and discovered it was paper towels.😛 When I got home I texted my daughter and told her I had a “Judi” moment and she knew I had done something dumb and she was right.
How funny. Thanks for sharing your senior moment, Judi. We all have them that’s for sure. You brought us a smile. 😊
When I was program director for our first Senior Activity Center in Fort Worth, I heard a friend telling one of the members that he should give up his car because he didn’t see very well. He said, “Don’t worry about me. I just watch the car beside me–when it goes, I go and when it stops, I stop”. WOW! Maybe there is more to this staying home! Stay healthy and safe.
Hi Jane. Thanks for sharing your friend’s funny moment. He needs to stay home for sure. I hope you stay safe too.
Thanks it helps to make me feel normal.
Love, Virla
Thank you, Virla. We’re all in this together, right? 😊
