Watermelon Days — 14 Comments

  1. Love this. I am a big fan of watermelon and anything watermelon flavored. The photo made my mouth water. I have watermelon popsicles almost every night! Galatians 5:22 happens to be one of my favorite scriptures also, on the fruit of the spirit. Thank you for the walk down memory lane too.

  2. I had enjoyed a wonderful slice just before reading your delightful piece, Karen. I savor watermelon and all the other fruits of summer with joy and gratitude. God is so good to give us such a tasty variety in food, from flavors to textures.
And I’ve been dwelling on the fruit of the Spirit lately, so all of this was timely for me. Thanks, my friend!

  3. My dad and I used to now only devour delicious watermelons, but we would see how far we could spit the seeds. What fun! I love to eat watermelons even now. I love your reflections from your childhood.

  4. I had to smile really big when I saw the watermelon as my son-in-law bought a nice round watermelon yesterday and I was at my computer when I could smell it being cut open!! WOW ! I love watemelon and I put a little salt on mine!!
    I like the picture!!
Happy days to you ! Margaret

  5. My little watermelon 🍉 patch is growing quietly, as we converse, with two beauties already peeking through the leaves!
I’d mail you one Karen if I could!
    Can’t wait to taste them…😋
    🌸Smiles, BRC

  6. Summer and watermelon- they just seem to go together! I, too, have fond memories of sitting on the curb with my brother on hot summer nights , munching away at the sweet goodness and spitting out the seeds! At 10 years old I never dreamed that I would see the seedless variety we all enjoy today!!

  7. I love watermelon and its refreshing sweetness. When I was pregnant with my youngest daughter, who was born during the 1987 “shake and bake” October heat wave and earthquake of Los Angeles, I ate watermelon nearly every day. Some days, it was all I craved! Thanks for the memory trip!
