Vacation to the Great NW Volcanoes!
I recently returned from a glorious eight days touring the Great Volcanoes of the Northwest–starting in Tacoma, Washington and ending in San Francisco with Mayflower Tours. Twenty of us tourists enjoyed other sights, as well, from our first-class coach, but the volcanoes were the most interesting to me. All are considered active still but most had their most recent eruptions between 1300 and 7700 years ago, so we weren’t in any danger–we hoped!
Our agenda included a variety of amazing waterfalls, museums, monuments, and ended with a delightful dinner and dessert on The Napa Valley Wine Train (a vintage 1915 Pullman) that took us through the Napa Valley vineyards as we dined.
Every trip I take reminds me of how much there is still to learn about life, people, culture, nature, and history. I felt as though I picked up another college degree in one week! 😊
Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
    for I trust your commands.
(Psalm 119:66 NIV)
Sounds wonderful. I love your enthusiasm for life, Karen.
Thanks, Pam. The older I get the more of life I appreciate. 😊
Oh, Karen this sounds so interesting. You are such an adventurer. I’m proud of you being able to do this on your own. You are my hero.
Thanks, Heidi. My first trip without a partner was a challenge but now I love being on my own but in a group.
Love to read about your recent trips! It’s so inspiring to me!
Thanks, Glenda. I’ve really enjoyed my outdoor/nature trips the last few years. Nature is where I’m most at home and most myself.
Awesome! I am so happy you can go and enjoy these wonderful trips. I am blessed that I had a wonderful trip to Hawaii on my Honeymoon with Herb and then with my brother and sister-in-law again to Hawaii. We saw so many places where volcanoes had left such huge “holes” and one in particular was funny as there was a perfect design of a “mouse” or “RAT” on the floor of the hole. It is wonderful to be able to do these things and then when we get old we can still remember them and enjoy them all over again! I still enjoy the pictures we took, even the little mouse or rat? smile!
Keep on traveling, Dear, and share your travels with us. I love them! Love you too! Margaret
Thanks, Margaret. Good advice to enjoy traveling while it’s possible and then we’ll have a storehouse of memories to enjoy when we no longer can travel.
Wow Karen it looks and sounds simply wonderful.
God showers you with his love and beauty.
Blessings
Janet
Yes, Janet, I too believe God showers us with his love and beauty through nature.
The trip was awesome and I meet several wonderful people on the trip. You were an inspiration to me to be able to keep on traveling after you lost your love. There is no reason to stop the things that you love to do. I enjoyed reading your book; Laughing All The Way, that I ordered 6 other of your books. I know that I will enjoy reading them too. I was blessed to get to know you.
Thanks so much, Karen. How kind of you to read my latest book and to pass on copies to your friends. I appreciated meeting and talking with you, as well, and hearing about your ‘new’ home and your grandchildren.
I have been to a number of these places in the past. I think that one of the most impressive ones was Haleakala volcano in Hawaii. Quite a road to get there and what a site. Of course you can’t beat Crater Lake!! Your piece brought back lots of great memories for me . Thanks again Karen!
Thank you, Etta Mae. I’m happy to hear you have visited some of the same beautiful places as I did on my trip. Nothing like a few days in God’s creation to bring everything into perspective.
