Two Best Cures
A good laugh and a good sleep! I tested out both of them this week. They work!
I was feeling a bit ‘off.’ And then I realized I needed to spend some time smiling and laughing and going to sleep earlier than usual. I woke up refreshed and happy. And ready to take on the day, whether cleaning my house, washing clothes, grocery shopping or taking a long walk.
As I age, I feel the burden of becoming too serious. Sometimes I need a reminder to smile or laugh and to take my own advice in my books about senior moments.
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.” Job 8:21
Hi Karen, I always take time out of my busy day to read your posts! They are timely and remind me that I am moving fast into my senior years :). Keep up the great work and remember that your posts brighten the day for many people.
Simon, how wonderful to hear from you. Thanks for taking time to read my blogs. I have many great memories of our days at MH. All is well here and I hope the same for you and your family.
Hey Karen,
I’m currently re-reading your book, “The Beauty of Aging.”
I like your tip found in the “Funny Side Up” section that goes with your post today:
“Give yourself permission and time and space simply to create. Keep looking at the sunny side of the street, where there’s light and laughter and lots of loving support.” (pg. 175)
It’s so easy to get too serious about the struggles and strains of life.
Creativity keeps us seeing the beauty and joy in living.
Sometimes we forget. Thanks for reminding me.
Smiles, BRC
Beth, thank you for your encouraging comment. I appreciate you.
Sorry I cannot think of the exact quote but it is one I like and it simply says to put all your troubles and worries in a big box and sit on the lid and laugh! Sorry I cannot remember the words but I like it! HA!
Thanks for another good one. Margaret
I love this quote, as well. So encouraging. Thanks Margaret.
