“There’s A Crack in Everything”
I love this line from Leonard Cohen’s song, “Anthem.” “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
I find it a great reminder to allow my imperfections and those of others to lead me through my life. I’ll never get it all together and neither will anyone else. In fact, as Richard Rohr says, the cracks show us that we’re all in this together, whatever it might be. Such a relief.
Life is not about striving for perfection, which can never be attained, anyway, but about letting go and surrendering to the gift of grace that keeps us going from one moment to the next for all of our days. Thank you, God.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith and this not your own doing; it is the gift of God – not the result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Karen,

Thanks, Melody.
Thank you Karen for the beautiful reminder that it’s not about perfection, but it’s about God’s grace that helps us to take a deep breath and enjoy the journey without striving.I love the thought that without the cracks the light couldn’t get it. How true it is.
