Sweet Summer Love
I’ve been enjoying the waning days of summer as I gather with friends outdoors to sit and stroll in our lovely courtyard. Then suddenly everything went down. Someone hacked my website and all my email disappeared. Things are up and running again now after much help from my daughter.
Cheerful conversation, reflections on our childhoods and how fast the months fly by we share memories of playing jacks and jump rope and pick up sticks till our moms called us in for our daily baths and bedtime stories.
Such times of carefree summer days and nights are so sweet to recall.
Psalm 113:3 “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”
More and more I praise the Lord for his love, goodness, and tender leading of each moment of my life.
I love watching my grandchildren with their children relish each sweet moment of summer. chasing fireflies in the yard, toasting marshmallows around an open fire and watching the moon and stars light the night sky with their gifts.
Thank you, Lord, for the simple things and the dear people with whom to share them.
What was special about summer for you–then and now?
We are truly blessed to look back and see God’s loving guidance.
I love you, Karen.
Kathy, what a sweet message. Thank you.
God bless you Karen ! I am so happy to hear that “Your lines have fallen in pleasant places.”
I do not remember if that is from scripture or some other source , but I think it fits😊.
Our summer here has been going too fast it seem!
It has been great to see old friends and make some new ones .
God bless your daughter!👏🏻😍
I am so glad you got your computer problem solved.
Thanks, Etta Mae. I alway appreciate your warm words.
Thank you for your writing It brought back fun memories of summer from many years ago. I loved to play Chinese hopscotch, jump rope, basketball, football, and pole vaulting, My friends and I loved to run in the sprinkler that went back and forth. We loved to ride our bikes, climb trees and have cook outs in the woods. We’d roast hot dogs and make delicious smores. Swimming, climbing trees and going rock collecting were fun too. I loved when my dad barbecued delicious hamburgers on the grill.
Today I love to watch the hummingbirds feast on my fox glove plants and the doves that frequent my backyard. I love to sketch and paint the beautiful flowers and hummingbirds. It brings me a lot of joy playing catch with my grandchildren and hearing them squeal as they play in their pool. I love taking walks early in the morning and hearing the owls hooting and the orchestra of birds that are singing. It’s fun when I sing to the little doves and they don’t fly away.
Sandy, I am so blessed by all these memories. They are much like my own. Thank you for sharing. You are a lovely ‘girl’ at heart and a wonderful friend.
Praise His name! You are blessed as you have blessed so many of us.
