Simple Good Things — 10 Comments

  1. I love this Karen. You’re finding so many positives to fill your life in this time of uncertainty. Don and I took two days off last week and traveled to Sonora – very beautiful country where Don worked years ago. It was lovely to see his old haunts (some of which are no longer standing) and hear more of what’s important in his memory bank.

But I recognize I need to fill my mind and heart with more positive things as well, simple, daily things to keep my heart and mind focused on our Sovereign God, who is still in control! Much love.

    • Thank you, Carol. What a lovely idea–to revisit places that stir good memories. This reminds me of a time when Charles and I drove to SF and then to Mendocino and through the little towns along the way. I so wish I could do that again with Charles but will have to only in my memory since Charles is in Heaven.

  2. I’m reading books from my shelves and walking my dog where I can see friends – at a distance of course. I’m doing some writing and attending church on Zoom. And I’m putting off jobs I should be doing around the house like going through my file cabinets. Oh, well…

    • Thanks, Janet. It seems you are taking good care of yourself. I’m putting off some chores too. I decided that this is a year for peace and rest. I will not push myself. There is a time and a place for all things as we are reminded in Ecclesiastes.

  3. After the normal routine of getting out of my comfortable bed~which I hate to leave, I go to the bath room and one of the first things I do is sit comfortably. and work a sudocu puzzle to get this 93 year old brain to start waking up. I am spoiled and I smell coffee and the first thing I see is a hand slipping in the door and sits a cup of fresh brewed coffee on my walker within my reach! Yep! I am spoiled by Tanya and Fred and I just let them!
Next I go sit in my comfortable chair and eat some breakfast then I read my devotionals and have my prayer time. Then comes email time. I have
friends that I email each day and I also receive any prayer request from the church here and the one in Cape Coral where I used to live. I am still writing cards of encouragement to those whose names are on the list and I usually have othe cards to write so I stay busy. While eating my lunch I sit at my computer and play games~~gotta keep this old brain alive, and then it is nap time! I think this is enough details for the day~ha! The three of us have a habit of eating our supper meals ( yes I still say supper and not dinner) in the den while we watch the evening news, Jeopardy, and Wheel Of Fortune. This is a very special family time for us.
I am so blessed with a wonderful daughter and son-in-law who is like a son to me. I do more card and letter writing and emails, and trying to get back in the habit of reading some good books along with my Guideposts magazines, etc. SO, are you sorry you asked ME to let you know what I do? Smile Karen, you know how much I love you and have for many, many years and plan on several more. Love and blessings to all of your wonderful friends. We are blessed to know you, love, margaret

    • Thank you, Margaret. I love hearing your routine and about the love you receive from Tanya and Fred. You have been a blessing to them all through the years and now they are blessing you in so many ways. Keep on. You are an example to me and to many.

  6. Having read this I believed it was very informative. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this short article together. I once again find myself spending way too much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worthwhile! Brooks Abramo Townshend
