  1. Congratulations, Karen!! This is huge! Wow, what a blessing for you. Dick and I did a reverse mortgage in March of last year before shut down and it was such a weight lifted off of us. Such a blessing to trust God for the future…and NOW!!

  2. I am so happy for you. What a relief.
What a blessing to have the right people to assist you.
I had that when John passed away. I didn’t know up from down. The right people came at the time. GODS TIMING.

  3. Karen, I LOVE your house! It is so cute and has ‘character!’So happy for you. I can certainly relate to your story. After my husband died there was no way I could keep up the maintenance, etc. on the large house we had so I put the house up for sale and started looking at condo’s. Found what I wanted but could not afford it until my house would sell. I exhausted all sources so I thought, and then my daughter asked me if I did not know someone in the church where I belonged ( and did volunteer work -overtime~ha) who could help. I did, problem solved within a week! I did not have one penny in the bank who helped me but they knew the MAN who was with me and he knew God so we worked together and withing few months I had the condo before the house sold but it sold soon. God does offer His help through His servants and the man who helped me was a well known servant of God! Thank you, Karen, for sharing this beautiful story and for showing us the photo!! Just say it enough that I love it and love YOU too. Margaret

    • Thanks, Margaret. I think Charles would be so happy to know this. He made it possible for us to buy the house and I made it possible to pay it off! 😊 (all by the grace of God)

  4. Congrats, Karen! I remember when I paid off my house. It was so exciting. When the market tanked in 2008, I quit putting my retirement savings money there and instead put it toward my mortgage until the market stabilized. Those few years were the ticket to getting my mortgage paid early. Smartest move I ever made. And later, when Harvest House laid a third of its staff off, including me (after 28 years!) I could survive because I didn’t have a house payment. I still praise God for giving me that wisdom at the time. It certainly wasn’t my doing!

    • I remember you sharing this story with me, Barb, and at the time I was hoping I could do the same some day. Now I have. I hope you saw my blog about receiving the ECPA Gold Award for the sale of 500,000 copies of a single title–in this case, Gettin’ Old Ain’t For Wimps. You were my editor on this–the first of my books for Harvest House. So special.

  5. What a blessing to know this can be done and you did it!
Thanking God for blessing you with this “paid-off” provision!

We have a ways to go but I’m looking forward to that chapter in our lives.

    Smiles, BRC

  6. Wonderful news! Now you may want to think about selling it and moving into a senior residence. That was the best decision I made several years ago.

  7. So happy you were able to pay off your mortgage, Karen. That is a wonderful feeling of freedom and I love hearing your thankfulness for God’s direction in doing this. Happy home dear friend!
