My Shepherd For 2023
This last week I’ve been reading parts of the Bible that speak to me for the new year. Psalm 23 caught my attention so I’ve been exploring it line by line. I share it here with you. I hope it will speak to you as it has to me.
“Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!
He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most.
Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.[a]
You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest;[b] blessings overflow!
Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.”
Psalm 23 The Living Bible
Regardless of our circumstances, all of our needs will be met and as a shepherd guides his sheep so will we be watched and led in every way. My word for the year is TRUST.
And Happy Birthday to my daughter Erin.
Do you have a special word for 2023?
Trust is a perfect word for 2023!
Sending love and blessings to you in the new year
Thank you, Glenda.
Thank you, Karen. This is one of my favorites and my “word” for more than ten years now has been “Trust”. Several yeas ago our new minister at our church gave out what looked like auto license plates that had the word in big print TRUST and he suggested we put it on the wall by the door where we would be going outside (perhaps by the garage door) to get in the car to go somewhere. Amazing idea. Now that I depend on a strong walker to be able to stand up and walk this word is with me always as I “trust” /God and Jesus also to keep me from falling. And they do! I like the song “Trust and Obey” etc.Thank you again, Karen
I love your story about TRUST. Thanks for sharing it.
Karen. My favorite Psalm 23, i tur to it regularly as it reassures me I am in His hands and He has my best interest in His heart.
Beautiful share Lynn, and thank you for the note you sent me.
Psalm 23:1 is one of my favorite comforting verses.
Awesome to realize that God, the Creator of the World,
is our own Shepherd!
My focus word for last year was “Thankful.”
This year my word is “Laugh.” (Psalm 6:21)
Thanks for sharing your take on Psalm 23.
Smiles, BRC
