More Than One Way to Make Lemonade
My great-grandson Massey and his grandmother (my daughter Erin he calls Mimi) visited me over the weekend. Massey asked for lemonade but I didn’t have any lemons or sugar so what were we to do? Ah! We had cold water and I did have a plastic container of fresh-squeezed lemon juice I had bought at the grocery store so we started there. AND I had some maple syrup so could that take the place of sugar?
We decided to try it.
We started with the glass of water.
Then Massey added lemon juice and dollops of maple syrup.
Next, taste it. Mmmm not quite right. More lemon juice and then more syrup!
Then more syrup and a few more drops of lemon juice. Add and taste. Taste and add till it was just right.
He poured some for Mimi and she pronounced, “This is delicious.” A smile lit Massey’s face.
So the three of us were satisfied and our thirst quenched. Instead of giving up when we didn’t have the traditional ingredients, we experimented and succeeded.
What a good lesson for life, reminding me of the old cliche, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
We did. And we succeeded.
When I’m tempted to quit–anything–I’m going to try again, no matter what.

Love this and I thought of the way we ‘kids’ used to say: “If at first you don’t succeed keep on sucking until you Do succeed”! time to laugh! THEN seriously I love this story and it makes me thirsty for lemonade!
Thanks, Karen, Love to you, Margaret
