Memories of the Danube
Ah! What a trip. My oldest daughter Julie and I enjoyed a spectacular two weeks cruising the beautiful blue Danube (and it was blue at times) and touring the old city of Prague–the only city that was not bombed during WWII.
I’m including a few photos here to give you an idea of what we enjoyed and witnessed and learned from. More photos are available on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/karen.p.oconnor).
The most important aspect of the journey for me was discovering and appreciating the history of this European bloc of countries that suffered so much during WWII and during the Communist rule. (Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic–the countries we visited now referred to as Central Europe) Most citizens are still digging out–recovering their national pride and rebuilding their traditions and customs. I am in awe of each person I met. What a beautiful group of people–kind, gracious, hopeful and generous. It was a privilege to meet them and to learn from them and have fun with them too. I will never forget this experience and what a joy it was to share it with Julie.
Thank you, Karen, for taking the time to take pictures and show them to US! I am thankful you and Julie had some time together and that God brought you home “safe and sound”.
Love and blessings. Margaret
Thanks for being interested, Margaret.
Thank you for sharing your special memories with us…
Thank you, Rebecca. I appreciate your being interested.
Dear Karen, thank you so much for the beautiful pictures. I especially appreciated your profound understanding, sympathy and appreciation for the survivors of the brutal WWII and the evil Communism. Thanks again for sharing. Jing
Thanks, Jing. It was a special time of learning, for sure.
