Just Say YES–to Your Higher Power
I’ll be glad tomorrow (Election Day) when my email inbox and my postal mail box return to normal. 😉 No more fliers and ads and post cards begging me to say YES on this and NO on that.
Of course I care about my city and my country and those who represent my views and preferences and I appreciate my civic duty/privilege to cast my vote, but in the long run the only YES for me is the one I give my Higher Power (whom I call God and Lord) each morning when I get up and start a new day.
After more than eighty years on earth I am no longer beguiled or swayed by pleas and pressures to say or do this or that. It’s a relief.
I totally respect anyone who disagrees with me. I’m just letting off a little steam as we come down the home stretch. 🤗
I stay informed to the best of my ability and then pray for the grace and wisdom to make wise choices. That’s it!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27 ESV)
I feel settled when I settle into scriptures like this verse that reminds me of what really matters, what counts. In the long run, despite the outcomes, God is with us now and forever. I feel so blessed and loved and cared for and I hope you do too.
Great reminder about who’s sitting on the throne! Makes it so much easier to keep my calm
I agree. Thanks, Heidi. I look forward to being with you and others when our BELOVED group starts at church.
Yes indeed dear Karen. Amen to all you have shared with us today.
Thanks, Kathleen. Be well. Miss you. ❤️
Karen, my sentiments exactly. Everyone is stressed and sometimes it becomes necessary to vent our feelings to lessen the impact on our health. At my age, I turn over everything to God that I can’t do anything about. Stay well in mind and spirit – this too shall pass.
Yes, this too shall pass, Marie. I’m so happy you are well.
Yes I will vote and so will my husband, what we can’t individually control we need to take a step back and take a breath and turn it over to God, as your previous commenter said so well.
God Bless Karen
Marcy, how good to hear from you. Thanks for encouraging us all.
Amen!
Well said. 😉
The scriptures tell us to “be anxious about nothing” (Phil 4:6)but I encounter so many who are so stressed with election and Covid. I rest easy knowing that God is on the throne and he has it all under control. Blessings to you.
Thanks, Lynn. I love hearing that you affirm that God is on the throne and always will be.
Thanks, Karen. Very good! I have my preference in all things, including elections, but I have learned to ask God to please let the person or persons who will be the best for His people to be elected to guide us in these troubled times whether it is my choice is not important, but I think it is most important for it to be God’s choice but unfortunately this does not always happen as the Devil is still alive and he has many followers.
Let us all pray for peace in our country and the whole world.
Love you. Margaret
Margaret, I’m with you in prayer and desire for God’s best for our country. Still enjoying your memoir. Such a beautiful life you have.
Thanks Karen. I love that you are no longer swayed by the pressure to do or say whatever. I still struggle with that. But I rejoice with you that our God is still on the Throne and His plan is far above who our next President, Senators, Representatives will be – although He will use them for His own purposes.
I too, love knowing with certainty that God reigns regardless of the elections.
Fear can grip our hearts, and opinions sway our minds, but God gets the last vote! Thanks for your thoughts, Karen!
Thanks, Simon. I love every word you shared.
Karen.. This is lovely. These thoughts turn our weary eyes to the lOne who lifts our souls.
Thanks for sharing your heart, and touching mine.
