It’s Never the Wrong Time to do the Right Thing
I woke up a few days ago with two names on my mind–neighbors I wanted to call and invite to lunch. I like to get together now and again with people I care about.
I also enjoy helping my adult granddaughters with laundry or light housekeeping when they are in need. I did not have a grandmother during my childhood so it’s been special for me to be one.
“You’re a real angel,” one of my friends remarked. A nice compliment, but I feel happy to lend a hand.
As I grow older, I am blessed to receive help from my daughter Erin and her husband who live close by. And I return the favor when they have a task I can fulfill.
My mother was a great example of reaching out to people in need. She knew the value of doing the right thing at the right time, whether preparing a meal, opening a guest room to a visitor, or volunteering her talents at church or our local school.
“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. “(Proverbs 11:25)
Thank you Karen for your beautiful article. How wonderful that you help your grand daughters with laundry and house cleaning when they need help. How blessed you were to have a mother who set a great example for you. All I can say is that my heart is so full when I am there for my three daughters, their children and my son in laws. I love when they ask me to pray for them when health concerns and other challenges arise. Giving of myself and sometimes getting out of my comfort zone reaps blessings for me and those I touch.
Bless you Karen.
Thank you, Sandy, for this lovely comment.
I never did know my Mother’s parents.Their last name was Osbron. Her mother died before I was born and her dad soon after but I have very fond memories of Dad’s parents, we called them “Ma and Pa Frank”. Pa’s name was Benjamen Franklin Lax, and I am sad to say I do not know Ma’s name! They both died when I was quite young but I guess I remember them because I have seen a lot of pictures of them and my cousin playing in their yard and mostly because I have heard so many stories about Ma and Pa. I am thankful I can remember a few things but not many.
I will say, I am VERY happy that I have five grandchildren and three great granddaughters and one great grandson, AND one GREAT Granddaughter. All but my twin Granddaughters live so far away we do not get to see each other often. Thanks to email we do stay in touch so I feel blessed! ALSO thanks to my one and only Grandson all but one of my grandchildren were together Thanksgiving 2021 at a house he rented close to Disney World. It was great.
Love to you, Margaret
