Heartthrob
I ran across this story that I wrote about my mother some years ago and I decided to share it with you since her birthday passed recently. She died in 2003 at the age of 89. Shortly afterwards my sister June gave me a copy of one of her diaries. Mom was known for her dry wit and ready sense of humor. She also had a loving partner in our dad. They had fallen in love when she met him at age eighteen. Everyone could see it in their eyes and romantic gestures toward each other.
So I was not surprised to find this writing on one of her pages.
To Phil:
To hit my target heart rate, I can exercise vigorously for twenty minutes OR I can sit around and think of you.

May the Lord bless each of you with such love.
I know that kind of love. My late husband (4 years ago he went home to be with our Lord) and I almost made it to our 42nd anniversary. We we were in love from the very start and married 6 months after meeting. Praise God, I have all these loving and romantic memories. Thank you for all your books and thoughts. 💕
Thank you, Anne. What a beautiful love story.
Sweet story, Karen! Sending love, hugs and blessings to you from afar!
Thanks, Glenda.
Thanks, Glenda. Love to you too.
Wow! Yes! a dry wit and sweet heart. Thank you for sharing, dear Karen.
Lovely to hear from you, Kathy.
I met my husband (He has been gone since 1999 we had 49 years together) when I was 14, but did not see him again until I was 19 we were married the next year. We ended up living here in Mt. Hermon where we first met in 1944! Yes, true love is a beautiful thing to find. I never saw anyone I would have wanted to marry before or since I met him. 🙂 God is good!!
Etta Mae, that’s a sweet story of your own–a gift from God.
I love that Mom, and I love you. Grammy had such a great sense of humor and definitely a dry wit! 🙂
Thank you, Jimmy. So true. It will be great to share more stories from our family when you visit this week.
Dear Karen,
Thank you so much for sharing the quote from your mother. She must have been a very special person. How wonderful that you grew up with parents who really loved each other. August 11th my mom and dad would have been married 76 years. They both passed away within three days of each other in 2017. They absolutely adored each other. Every morning when my mother woke up my dad had a very special ritual. Even after over 70 years of marriage, he would say, “How is my beloved today?” Then they’d kiss. Thank you for continuing to share your writing. You always inspire me.
I love your story, Sandy. It is so inspiring.
