Feel Like Making a U-Turn?
I saw a U-Turn sign recently and it reminded me of how useful such a sign can be when I’ve driven too far in the wrong direction. I wish I could make a U-Turn in life sometimes when I realize the many mistakes I’ve made.
But then I remember that God is always doing a new thing in my life, always guiding me toward better opportunities and I am able to relax.
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
This beautiful bible verse holds wisdom for the ages—especially as we age. When I think of some of the decisions I made in the past, I shudder, wondering if I’m worthy of such grace and forgiveness. But Jesus tells us it’s not about being worthy. Our behavior does not merit God’s favor. He loves us. Period. Whew!
If only we could flip a switch and the darkness would disappear forever. On the other hand, how comforting it is to know that when we come to God in our weakness he embraces us, as we would our own children. He not only forgives, he forgets.
“. . . as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 (NIV)
A great reminder!
So true. We are so blessed.
Beautiful reminder!! Thank again Karen
Thank you, Etta Mae, for enjoying the blessing.
Karen your writing is a comfort for me. How wonderful it is to know that God not only forgives us, but He also forgets. I’m so thankful that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. Glory Hallelujia.
Thanks, Sandy. We are so blessed.
So good, Karen. Yes, love the “forgetting” part. Helps me to know God does not hold anything against us. When we repent (turn around—U turn) He says he is doing a NEW thing. That means we can leave all the old, bad behavior behind. As you said, relax into His comfort and love.
I’m into the ‘new’ things God is doing. Our God is so faithful.
Thank you Karen. I have made “many uturns” and not very wise decisions.
But I take comfort that I have a living savior who has forgiven me…unconditionally.

Pushed wrong button again.🤪
Yes God’s unconditional forgiveness is such a gift.
Ah, yes, how wonderful to know God loves us regardless and is waiting for us to just let Him know we are sorry for our thoughts and actions that are not what they should be and if we are sincere He will forgive us! Their is one verse of scripture I like to change one word to make it more personal: “For God so loved the world that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life”. I like to change the word “whosoever” to “if I”.Sometimes I think it is easier for God to forgive me than for ME to forgive myself. Thanks, Karen, Margaret
I agree. I count on God’s forgiveness since I’m not so great at forgiving myself.
From my heart…”Thank you.”
Smiles, BRC
Thanks, Beth. Sending you hugs over the miles.
Received & Reciprocated! 🤗💝
I too am grateful for his forgiving and forgetting the mistakes and foolish choices of my past, Karen. Thanks for the good reminder!
