Busy Lizzy
I met Lizzy some months ago as I strolled around my backyard. She seemed to want company as much as I did.
After a few minutes I went in for a glass of water. Lizzy went on her way and I didn’t see her again–that is until yesterday. There she was in my front yard this time, moving through my flowering bushes and up and down the front steps to my porch. It was so good to see her again.
I talked to her about what’s been going on in my life and she paused for a moment, as though she really cared about what I had to say.
I enjoyed her company once again. I live alone so it’s a real comfort to chat with Lizzy. She doesn’t judge me or give me advice or take over the conversation. She’s herself and I’m myself.
I learned from Lizzy how to be a quiet, faithful friend. And how to slow down. I let her be who she is and she offers me the same sweet courtesy.
“A friend is a gift you give yourself.”
Robert Louis Stevenson

Thanks, Julie. I love you too.
Busy Lizzy…love it. All the birds and lizards are an important addition to our gardens. We have three hummingbirds in our back patio. Have named them….the General, Green Jean’s and The Princess. They are aware of us and we quietly watch them. God’s creation is never boring.
What cute names for your garden friends.
I love it! I think there is a song about “talk to the animals” but don’t remember who sang it? Sometimes a devotional I read in the mornings will have a story about talking to a frog, or some kind of animal outside and I really love those stories. I hope Lizzy will visit you often,
Thanks for the smile! Margaret
Thanks, Margaret.
