Bright Idea
I’m sitting at my desk this morning, preparing this week’s blog. And it occurs to me that for each day of this entire week I want to shine!
• I will be kind to everyone
• I will smile at each person I encounter
• I will think of others’ pain before my own
• I will be a good listener
• I will send up a feather prayer for those in need
• I will stay close to God all day long
• I will end each day with a prayer of gratitude
If I can do this for one day, I can do it for two, and then three . . . and so on. Perhaps it will become a habit that I cannot and don’t want to break. Want to join me?
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 NLT
Excellent, Karen, but I can’t imagine you being any other way.
Have a shining week (golden glimpses of light).
Lovely comment, Marie. May you have ‘golden glimpses of light’ all week long, as well.
What a heartfelt list, Karen. I want, and need to follow every single one of them. Thanks so much for being my role model. Jing
Thanks, Jing. What a blessing you are.
Karen, this is so good. I just printed it, and yes I would love to join you.
Thanks, Pam. Here’s to a ‘bright’ week!
My Sweet Friend, You are already a shining light of love, compassion and grace. GOD is eternal, is in all of us, is ONE without second and we live our lives in faith and acceptance of all that is! We are indeed blessed. Glad you remind us each week of the strength of faith in the Divine. Om.
Thanks, Kathleen. You are my ever support friend. What you say to me is true of you too.
The scripture you printed was the motto of Lambuth College, a small Methodist college I attended in Jackson, Tennessee. The verse has been ONE of my favorites ever since I was 18 years old and that’s a long time!! In fact, for 70 years!! I remind myself of this verse often.
A smile goes a long way and as I told one lady at church when she commented that I was always smiling: ” it improves my face value” !
Love everything you wrote today~~another winner!
Love to you with lots of blessings. Margaret
What a nice coincidence, Margarget, to learn that the verse from Philippians was the motto of your college. Certainly in my experience and from what Charles always said about you, you are an example of all that Paul advises.
This is perfect timing for me, just when I needed inspiration! I am adding this to my morning mediation and putting it on the fridge for reminders! Thank you, Karen.
Marianna
Marianna, how nice to hear from you. Thank you for your encouragement and for letting me know this ‘bright idea’ is just what you needed to hear.
