Contentment Is More Than a Word
I saw this scene in person a couple of years ago with my son Jimmy who lives nearby. Now we are thousands of miles apart as I’m in Ohio and he’s living in Nevada. But we enjoy a phone call almost every night.
When I lived in California I thought it was one of the most beautiful places on earth. And it is. But Ohio has its own beauty, which I am getting to know and love. People are kind and friendly and my apartment is warm and personal.
In my old age, I’m realizing that the most beautiful place on earth is wherever I am–wherever YOU are. And it can change from day to day. Think about that. We make our home and place what they are regardless of the location on a map or someone else’s opinion.
Today I am thanking God for my place in His creation!
In Psalm 26:8, David declares, “O LORD, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells.”
Love it, Karen. Sometimes it’s hard to love where you are—especially separated by miles from loved ones. But that is how it is now …taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, ha ha. I am right where God wants me. love, Heidi
Thank you Heidi. I l love hearing from you.
As always, I love your posts 😊!
Thank you, Simon. So GOOD to hear from you. Love to you and Trish.
Beautiful post. I always enjoy yours even though I seldom comment.
Thanks, Janet.
Love this post! I always think of the saying “Grow where you are planted” and you certainly are doing that! I know we are separated by many miles- but I’m so grateful we can call, email or text each other! Technology has really given us the gift of connection.
Yes, I love staying connected to you.
Love your faithfulness!
We have moved so many times and the las time to somewhere I truly did Not want to go but I am grateful to have been blessed with a nice home a grandchild we are raising and a great husband. Most of the family is far away but not all.
I am often discontented because my selfish desire was to remain elsewhere but I am striving to keep faith that Gods wisdom placed me where I need to be.
Thank you for reminding all of us.
Melody, what a lovely and honest sharing.
I can certainly relate. I am now a widow living in our last home together in New Mexico. Our daughters are in California and the Czech Republuc (she and her husband are missionaries there for the last 17 years). The rest of my family is in the Norrtheastern states and Eastern Canada. I am content in my home and community and communicate with my daughters and other family members via phone, text, and Whatsapp video calls. Technology certainly helps so much.
Thank you, Anne. What a sweet life you have. Thanks for sharing your contentment.
