Paying Attention
This week two people died, one fell and broke her left shoulder and others have had various illnesses. Life is difficult here and elsewhere. There are always unpredictable situations that throw us off track.
“Take it easy. Take your time. Take an extra minute.” We’re quick to dish out advice to others but often forget to practice it ourselves. I have been blessed with good health since I moved here but I’m aware that could change at any moment.
A friend of mine gave me The Little Book of Self-Care and I have devoured some of the wonderful quotes to remind myself that good health is a gift to be enjoyed and never taken for granted. Here are a few:
“Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.” Lord Byron
“Breathing is your greatest friend. Return to it in all your troubles and you will find comfort and guidance.” Unknown
“Be sure to put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” Abraham Lincoln
“Relax. Refresh. Recharge. “Unknown
Dear Karen,
I am so thankful that your health is doing well. The quotes are all so meaningful and true. We do need to be grateful for being able to walk, talk, see, hear and hug. I think of Joni Erickson who is paralyzed and she has learned how to thrive in the midst of immense health challenges. Recently I have bee taking photos of my beautiful calla lilies and watching the bees and the hummingbirds. It is the little things that make me happy today. Also, I’m noticing that when I do my deep breathing I feel so much more alive. Love you Karen.
Sandy
Walk carefully, watch your step, look before you step. Hip are easily broken as we age. Please take care. You are special.
John what you shared is very true. We need to be vigilant about watching our steps. Yes, Karen is very special.
I miss you my friend! And it’s always great to receive your blogs and postings.
Much love and prayers!

Self care is not selfish!! that is what I tell my sponsees. love, Heidi
Yes, I agree! Philippians 4:8 always comes to mind when I think of keeping the right attitude. ” Whatever things are true, lovely just, pure, ….If there is anything praiseworthy.. meditate on these things..” My condinced “Paraphrase. ” A positive outlook goes a long way to staying healthy and in tune with the Lord.
