The Red Chair — 8 Comments

  1. I like the verse of scripture~one of my favorits.
Karen, I am sure you and some others will not want to believe this but I have been reading two devotionals for more years than you can imagine. The first one is called “The Upper Room” which my Dad starting using in the 1940’s or before and I have been reading it every morning for over 50 years! also started reading the Daily Devotional from Guideposts for over 30 years, So many of the Guidepost writers have been with them for more years than I can know and I feel like I have known THEM almost all my life~ha! After I read them I have a prayer time. It starts my day. I am now within 50 days of being 95 years old so I am too old to stop now!smile! I don’t sit in a red chair, but we have one! My chair is plain old brown but it sure is comfortable. I like your red chair and I know you will always like it. Love and blessings to you. Margaret

  2. Love this, Karen. What a great discipline. I say the Third Step prayer every morning as I water and take Dash out for his morning business.
“God, I offer myself to Thee, to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life.
May I do Thy will always! Amen”

Get’s me out of the way of myself to start the day.

  3. Karen, your red chair looks so inviting and comfortable. Actually I gave several places I use for my devotional time. Sitting up on bed or the lounge chair in the bedroom. It’s always quiet in the bedroom. My UtMost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers and Be Still and Know a little book I found at CVS. IT’S compiled of devotionals written by several women. My Bible is referred to during this time.
    Then conversation with God.
This gets me set for the day and also settles me if there is something bothering me.
