Can’t do it without ’em!
The other day I asked my neighbor Tom for a little help with some small tasks I can’t do by myself. We exchange favors. I take in his mail (he and his wife live here only part time) and he provides help when I need it.
That got me thinking about all the people in my life who keep me going.
Tom, (a different Tom) my gardener
Merry Maids (cleaning service)
Raul, the checker at my favorite grocery store
Jeff, the tech wizard I depend on
Ruth, my neighbor who has my spare key
Bruce, who services my car
Martha, my hairdresser
Steve, whose pest control service frees my property of ants
Mike, who provides home-made fish chowder after a good ‘catch’
Vadim, whose advice I appreciate regarding my backyard fence
Annie, who keeps my eyebrows trimmed
Jordan, my acupuncturist
René, my pastor, and Richard, a spiritual mentor who inspire me with daily devotionals
Julie, Jim, and Erin, my adult children who look after me in all ways
and so many more…
I don’t want to take any of them for granted–ever.
I light a candle at my breakfast table each morning in remembrance of all who have passed on before me and for all those who support me in so many ways (including each of you, dear readers).
I have such a rich life, thanks to the prayers and services of so many.
Who are you especially grateful for, people who help you keep on keeping on?
I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you. Romans 1:8
What a wonderful piece of writing, Karen! It inspired me to make a list of people in my life who help me! Thanks!
You’re welcome. I appreciate your kind words.
Thank you, Karen! What a great reminder of those who support us faithfully.
Thanks, Heidi. You are on my recovery support list too.
What a great idea~to list those wonderful people who are so helpful to us. I know we could never list all of them but I will mention the Methodist Men’s group at our church in Cape Coral that called themselves “Helping Hands”.
There were a lot of widow’s (and couples who needed help)in our church and the men decided they would do things for them and ask for only a small donation that they gave to others in need. I was single and when I needed a new water facet in the kitchen one of the men came to my condo to see what I needed, went to the hardware store, bought it and installed it for me. Of course I paid for the facet and gave a small donation to the men. I called on them so many times to just replace a smoke detector and other things. It was a wonderful service and it really helped me a lot. One time the man noticed my flower box outside in front of my large window needed some work~ the wood was rotting so he just repaired it and his wife loved flowers so after the box was repaired she replanted the flowers. Neither of them would accept any money as they told me they really did enjoy doing those things. Even tho I moved from there in 2012 I still stay in touch with those two who did so much for me. Thanks, Karen, for bringing back special people to my memory. Love you. Margaret
What a great group of helpers, Margaret. Truly they were acting in Jesus’ name.
Thank you Karen for the reminder. It’s such a joy reading your stories/comments, etc. I to have a list besides my only daughter. Even strangers help when needed & I’m grateful that as well..May God Bless. Andrea
Thanks, Andrea, for your kind support always so encouraging.
Thank you Karen for the reminder that there are people in our lives who make things easier. I too hadn’t really thought about all the people who have walked through my life and provided a necessary service or just came along side me for emotional support.
Wonderful subject…makes me more aware.
Thanks, Joan. We all wonderful helpers in our lives. It’s so worth thinking about them for sure and with gratitude.
I’m grateful for you Karen.
Thanks for the years of inspiration.
