Walk, Walk, Walk!
The sky has been so smoky the last few weeks here on the West Coast (almost apocalyptic) due to the wild fires, it has been dangerous to go outdoors except for necessities and then only with a good mask.
I was unwilling to give up my daily walking routine even in such dire circumstances, so I turned my house into an exercise path I could enjoy.
I began walking from kitchen to dining room to living room to hallway to office to guest room to master bedroom and back again for 30 to 40 minutes each day. I’ve grown to love it–odd as that may sound.
I use the time to pray, to phone a family member or friend, listen to my favorite music or a Podcast, OR simply enjoy paying attention to the beautiful paintings I have in each room. It has turned into a fabulous pastime that I will continue when the weather turns cold or on a rainy or high windy day.
How are you coping with changes in your world? How are you adapting or modifying some of your routines in order to maintain your serenity?
Please share with me and my readers.

Good idea! I live in a senior residence with 5 floors so if I can’t go outside, I have plenty of stairs to climb up and down! :):)
Please stay safe!
Stair walking is a great idea. Thanks for suggesting it.
Lovely, Karen, such a simple, but smart alternative. Quite often, I don’t appreciate my own surroundings until I either leave for a while and come back, or do what you did—turn your house into your path. Brilliant. Thank you. Heidi
Thanks, Heidi. With the view you have from your living room and kitchen I can imagine walking back and forth indoors during poor weather would be a real pleasure. 😊
Hi Karen,
I love how you are enjoying walking in your home and how you completely turned it into a joyful experience. Your persistence, discipline and encouraging words are truly an inspiration. I do my walking in my home too and it helps to rejuvenate me. Also, I walk in my back yard. I do my traction exercises in my bed while a listen to wonderful Christian meditation cd first thing in the morning. You are a great inspiration to me.
You’ve offered some wonderful ideas, Sandy. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much Karen for this! Another wonderful way for us in CA to deal with all this mandatory isolation and now indoor time because of poor air quality due to the many fires. So overwhelming at times!
I thank you as I now consider our townhome as my walking circuit! Fall weather will come soon and then Winter … when the pool exercise outdoors is no longer possible. You have given me hope. Bless you. Much Love always to you and all your loyal followers ❤️
Thanks, Kathleen. We have ideas to share and they keep us all going. With your staircase you have lots of opportunity for cardio exercise!! Puff. Puff! ❤️
Dear Karen, this sounds like a great idea! I enjoy looking at our pictures on the walls and the books in our bookshelves in the living room, etc. I used to walk a lot and especially up and down the hills in our subdivision when I lived in Frankfort. Perhaps that is why I have strong legs today. I can no longer walk because when I stand the bottom on my feet turn to mush and I would fall if not holding on with both hands with my walker, but HEY,I am not complaining as I have no pain with this problem and I can just say Thank you God that I did it “once upon a time” Enjoy your daily walk and enjoy your paintings and ‘bric a brac! smile! Love you, Margaret
Thanks, Margaret. I love your positive attitude about absolutely everything. You continue to inspire me.
Dear Karen. Your floors are beautiful. A beautiful place to walk!
Thank you so much for inspiring us to get up and MOVE

Thanks for your encouraging words, Karen. I welcome your input.
I’ve tried doing that even though my house is small. But I prefer going to stores and walking up and down the aisles – wearing a mask, of course.
That’s a great idea too. I did that yesterday–strolled around a mall just for a change.
Wow, I have just started walking inside my home. I have a small mobile home but that is not going to stop me any longer, no more excuses. Walking or starting other forms of exercise will be on my daily to do list (with the Lord’s help). Turn on some praise music and just walk, praise, and pray!!
Fabulous idea–especially with praise music to encourage you. Thanks, Joyce.
