“Beauty for Ashes”
Thank you to all who have reached out to me. I am safe and my family too, though the smoke is such that we must remain indoors except for essentials.. The Santa Cruz Fairgrounds is just two miles from where I live and is currently being used as an evacuation center as is the parking lot of the church I attend.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,” Is. 61:1-3
A beautiful scripture.
As you probably know my home and all of Mount Hermon are still in touched by the fire.
We are all evacuated to various places. I am with my daughter in Roseville . Praising the Lord.
We will all be happy to go home when it is safe. The are here is clear for the first time in a week. Thank you for those lovely scriptures !!
So glad your home and MH Camp are safe. I pray you can go home soon.
I’m continuing to pray for God’s mercy on all those affected by the fires and safety for the fire fighters – as they do battle against a formidable foe.
Thanks so much, Glenda. Now we can add prayers for the victims of Hurricane Laura. This is quite a year.
Keeping you in my prayers!
Thanks, Chloe. So far so blessed and cared for.
KAREN, I am always so concerned about you when we see “Fries in Ca.” so I guess this is why we did not hear from you on Monday. Dear we will continue to pray for all in the path of the fires, the firefighters and certainly for all who are in the midst of it all.
Love to you. Margaret
Thanks, Margaret. I had technical trouble on Monday. Hence the delay in getting this blog posted then. But all is well now.
I praise God that you and your family are being protected. May the Lord put a complete end to the fires. Lord thank you for protecting all of the fire fighters and families in the fire area.
Love you Karen.
Thank you, Sandy. Your prayers are so welcome.
My thoughts and prayers go out for you Karen, your communities and all those affected by fires, storms, illness, and political & social unrest.
May God restore hearts, homes and hope to all.
I’m reminded of a song I’ve been singing lately by the Martins called, “Still Standing.” Check it out on YouTube if you can & stand strong.
From my heart, BRC
Thank you, Beth, for your kind words and heartfelt prayers. Now I am thinking of you since Hurricane Laura hit the south. Have you been affected personally? Praying for all victims of this great storm.
No Karen, actually we were blessed to be on the outskirts of the east side of Hurricane Laura and only received a little wind and rain. Joining you in prayers for those affected…
Thanks, BRC
I’ve been praying night and day for you all. I was actually in Santa Cruz the night the lightning struck and flew home on Tuesday right before it got worse. I’m so sorry for the losses. Praying for all! Glad you are safe.
