A Fresh Start
I read the following in my Spirit of Ireland devotional this week:
“We are given a fresh start not only at the beginning of the year, but every morning when we wake up. We have the chance to start new and make things right.”
That statement really blessed my day and my week. There are always things I wish I could re-do, go back and fix, take a moment to pray about before making a decision and on and on. But life keeps moving forward and it’s just not possible for a make-over. What’s done is done and can’t be undone, even though we can make amends for actions we wish had never occurred.
By seeing each day as an opportunity for a fresh start, however, we can breathe again, smile, and commit to a new way of behaving. And God is there to urge us on, to wipe away our regrets, and to pour on the grace that only God can give.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17.
Isn’t it wonderful that God’s blessings are new every morning? I like the song “Great is Thy Faithfullness” especiall the line that says: “morning by morning new mercies I see” ! I certainly can relate to that line as He has certainly been good to me! Now if I can be as faithful to HIM as He is to me, it would be wonderful! I can certainly try even tho I will fall short I am blessed to know that HIS faithfulnes will never end. We jus have to accept His blessings and be thankful we can have a “new beginning”.
Love you, Margaret
Thanks, Dear, for another blessing to think about.
I love that same great hymn, Margaret, for I truly need God’s faithfulness new every morning.
I set my alarm for 12:01 A.M. this morning so I could thank the LORD for His gift to me of 70 glorious years. Some years were good and some were not-so good but all were a gift! I love the fact that He’s given me yet another day to bask in His love, grace and forgiveness. What a God we serve!
I agree–what a God we serve. And a most Happy Birthday on your milestone birthday–#70.
Thank you for sharing with us and challenging us to be reminded of each day being a fresh start. I like that.
Love, Virla
You’re very welcome, Virla. Thanks for your comment.
That’s so beautiful. I love the thought of starting fresh each day. The thought of God’s love and His forgiveness is comforting for me.
Love you.
Sandy
Yes, what a gift–a new start each and every day.
Thanks for your good words!
Thanks for chiming in, Nancy. I hope all is well with you.
“New every morning. Great is your faithfulness.” So grateful for fresh starts, new beginnings, forgiveness. God is good. Thanks for this reminder Karen.
Thanks for the scripture you included, Carol. I believe each one of us is grateful for the new grace and opportunities each morning.
