Walking
I took a couple of beach walks last week–my favorite kind. There is something about the ocean that gets to me. I feel so blessed to live close to the water and sand and trees. Whenever I’m feeling anxious the waves hug me as they hug the shore.
Nature never fails to wash my troubles away, to exchange negative thoughts for positive ones, and to remind me that I am not alone–ever.
A rock, a flower, a fallen leaf, a grain of sand all speak to me of the love of God, who never leaves me nor forsakes me.
What a beautiful time of life it is.
Walking, walking, walking while talking, talking, talking to my God.
And then resting in prayer.
Devotion
by Robert Frost
The heart can think of no devotion
Greater than being shore to the ocean
Holding the curve of one position,
counting an endless repetition.
Love that Frost poem, Karen!
Thanks, Janet. How lovely to hear from you.
Thank you for your beautiful description of how you were comforted and replenished by walking at the ocean. Nature is soothing and so it the water. Your writing brings back special moments for me.
Thank you, Sandy. I’m glad nature comforts you too.
What a lovely reflection Karen. And that’s a great picture of you on your walk!
Thank you, Carol. I know you and Don enjoy walking at the beach too.
Thank you Karen…my absolute favorite activity is walking and bejng quiet. Enjoying Gods creation. At this time I have a torn meniscus and walking is not that easy. I do miss walking. Something I have taken forgranted. I have
spent many hours with my little dog Lucy walking at Mission Bay. Fond memories. Now there are new paths to walk here in the Central Valley when I can.
I have a feeling this is from you, Joan Lucas!

Sure enough, Joan. It’s you. Thanks for reposting with your name. I hope your injury will heal soon so you can enjoy walking again.
I definitely agree there is nothing more relaxing than being at the beach and watching the waves go by and the birds pecking in the sand for food, etc. Herb and I spent two weeks in a condo at the beach in June and one week in October and it was wonderful. I have a lot of wonderful memories of long walks on the shore and lying down in the water away from the shore and let the waves carry me to shore! Awesome memories! Thanks, Karen for reminding me. Enjoy it as long as you can! Love, Margaret
Lovely to hear your memories of times at the beach with Herb. I have so many with Charles, as well. Bless you.
Amen!
Hi Heidi. Remember this photo shoot? It was so special.
